IEBCOPY Utility • Copies PDS on to DASD. • Copies PDS on to Tapes by converting it to sequential dataset. • The IEBCOPY provides the following functions: 1. Copy PDS 2. Compress PDS 3. Include members of PDS within copy 4. Exclude members of PDS within copy • The syntax of the COPY control statement: COPY OUTDD=DDNAME, INDD=DDNAME where, OUTDD : Specifies the ddname of the data set to be created INDD : Specifies the ddnames of one or more input files • When the same ddname is mentioned in both INDD & OUTDD, the dataset coded in that DD will be compressed. • The syntax of the SELECT and EXCLUDE control statements SELECT MEMBER=member1,member2 EXCLUDE MEMBER=member1,member2 Where, MEMBER: Specifies the names of one or more members to be included or excluded • NOTE: When copying from one sequential file to a member of PDS & between sequential files, the DCB parameters should be same. • EXAMPLE: //JCLWORLD JOB NOTIFY=JCLUSR7 //STEP1 EXEC PGM=IEBCOPY //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=A //SYSUT1 DD DSN= JCLWORLD.JCL.SOURCE,DISP=SHR //SYSUT2 DD DSN= JCLWORLD.IEBCOPY.PDS, DISP=(NEW,CATLG) // VOL=SER=VOLJCL,SPACE=(TRK,(5,5,8)), // DCB=(RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=800) //SYSIN DD * COPY INDD=SYSUT1,OUTDD=SYSUT2 /* • This JCL uses IEBCOPY utility to copy all the members of a PDS to a new PDS. • It takes the input PDS JCLWORLD.JCL.SOURCE and copies all the members of it to the new PDS JCLWORLD.IEBCOPY.PDS. |
