IEBGENER Utility • Is used to copy one sequential file to another. • The different parameters used with IEBGENER are - SYSPRINT: An output message file SYSUT1 : Input file SYSUT2 : Output file SYSIN : The control statement file • The SYSIN statement is used as a dummy data set since there are no control statements. • When IEBGENER encounters this SYSIN statement, it immediately gives an end-of-file indication. • NOTE: When copying from one sequential file to a member of PDS & between sequential files, the DCB parameters should be same. • EXAMPLE: //JCLWORLD JOB //STEP1 EXEC PGM=IEBGENER //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=* //SYSUT2 DD DSN=JCLWORLD.IEBGENER.NEWPS, // VOL=SER=VOLJCL,SPACE=(TRK,(1,1)), // DCB=(RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=800), // DISP=(NEW,CATLG) //SYSUT1 DD DSN=JCLWORLD.INPUT.JCLPS1,DISP=SHR //SYSIN DD DUMMY • This JCL takes the input sequential data set JCLWORLD.INPUT.JCLPS1 and copies its content to the newly created sequential data set JCLWORLD.IEBGENER.NEWPS. |
